Our Curriculum
At Marlborough House Vinehall, our curriculum is designed to support and inspire every stage of a child’s development – from the earliest years through to preparation for senior school. We foster a love of learning, promote emotional and social growth, and encourage independence and curiosity in every child. Each phase of our school offers a unique blend of academic excellence, creativity, and pastoral care tailored to the needs of its learners.
Nursery
Our Little Vines Nursery provides a warm and stimulating environment where the youngest children begin their educational journey. Rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, the curriculum focuses on personal, social and emotional development, communication and language, physical development, literacy, numeracy, expressive arts and design, and understanding the world.
Children benefit from the expertise of qualified teachers and nurturing practitioners, along with specialist-led sessions in music, French, swimming, gym, balance bikes, and gardening.
Pre-Prep (Reception - Year 2)
In our Pre-Prep, children thrive in small classes and a supportive, family-like atmosphere. We focus on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy while nurturing creativity and emotional intelligence. Through engaging teaching and excellent pastoral care, pupils develop a growth mindset and a love of learning that prepares them for future success.
Prep School (Year 3 - Year 8)
Our Prep School offers a rich, dynamic curriculum that develops confident, well-rounded learners. We encourage children to explore ideas, think critically, and embrace challenges. Lessons are designed to inspire curiosity and creativity while building core academic skills. Strong relationships between staff and pupils ensure every child feels known, supported, and empowered to flourish – both inside and outside the classroom.
Years 3 and 4
Juniors enjoy the continuity of a dedicated class teacher alongside specialist teaching in subjects such as Art, Carpentry, Computing, Music, Drama, French, Life Skills, and Sport. The curriculum is creative and flexible, offering opportunities for children to pursue their interests and grow in independence, resilience, and collaboration.
Years 5 and 6
In the Middle years, children transition to subject-specific teaching and begin to take greater responsibility for their learning. STEM is introduced, and in Year 6, pupils choose to study Latin or Spanish alongside French. Our focus on emotional wellbeing, empathy, and resilience helps children navigate new academic and personal challenges with confidence.
Years 7 and 8
Our Seniors are encouraged to aim high and embrace leadership roles as Prefects, House Captains, and Committee Leaders. They prepare for senior school with a strong academic foundation, including Common Entrance and scholarship exams.
